Zarqawi dead, say Iraqi reports

Could it be? The next question: who got him and who provided the info. That's got to be on his associates' minds.

From the Beeb:
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki is about to announce that militant leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been killed, Iraqi state television reports.

The leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq is considered the figurehead of the Sunni insurgency.
Al-Qaeda has been blamed for scores of bombings that have killed hundreds of Shias and US forces in Iraq.

The Jordanian-born fugitive appeared in a video recording earlier this year, reproaching the US for its "arrogance".
Looks as if his own arrogance has been appropriately dealt with.

UPDATE: It's been confirmed by the Iraqi government.
